BACKGROUND

The Entomological Society of America (ESA) is the largest organization in the world serving the professional and scientific needs of entomologists and individuals in related disciplines. The premier event of the Society is its Annual Meeting. Each year approximately 3,000 entomologists and other scientists gather to exchange information.

 

The 2018 Joint Annual Meeting was hosted in Vancouver, Canada at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The objective of Tourism Vancouver’s Social Media Concierge was to enhance the attendee’s experience. Arkitek Creative curated and managed the campaign, positioning Tourism Vancouver as the go-to resource for all things related to Vancouver. We monitored social conversations during the event on numerous platforms, by using the event hashtags, key accounts, keywords and geo-tags. We uncovered, vetted and presented nearly a dozen “Surprise and Delight” gift opportunities to key event attendees and social influencers. This portion of the campaign was intended to respond real-time to attendee conversations on social media and “wow” them with a custom tailored gift. We also curated all of the content throughout the campaign, including targeted messaging and high-resolution photography.
